Operating Description for Abnormal Operations a. In case of a fire in the motor space on top of the lift car, the operator must press the ‘emergency’ button in the lift. The lift will deliver the passengers to the next lowest landing and the doors will open (if automatic) and stay open. After the ‘emergency’ button has been pressed, the operator will be able to release the brake using a manually operated device. It will require constant effort to keep the brake open. The car speed shall not exceed 0.63m/s during emergency operation. The lift will resume normal operation after the controller has been reset by authorised lift maintenance personnel in case of a fire in the area where the lift is installed.
