Notice of Permanent, Long Term Layoff. Notice to the Union In the event of a layoff of a permanent or long-term nature, the Employer will provide the Union with at least six (6) weeks notice. This notice is not in addition to the required notice for individual employees. The Employer will meet with the Union through the Union/Company Committee to review the reasons and expected duration of the layoff, any realignment or service of staff and its effect on employees in the bargaining unit. Any agreement between the Employer and the Union resulting from the above process concerning the method, timing and implementation will take precedence over other terms of layoff and related provisions in the collective agreement. Notice to the Employees In the event of a layoff of a permanent or long term nature, the Employer will provide the affected employees with notice in accordance with the Employment Standards Act.
