Non-Tenured Faculty Development. 1899 A. Upon hire, a new faculty member must attend a College Pre-Employment orientation not to 1900 exceed two (2) days. When possible, this will be offered prior to the first in- 1901 service/administrative day of the academic term. Participation in this orientation is not counted 1902 towards the faculty development requirement below. If the new faculty member is unable to 1903 attend the scheduled orientation, the Supervising Administrator must work with the faculty 1904 member to provide the academic information covered at the orientation, and the faculty 1905 member must reschedule the human resources portion of the orientation.
Non-Tenured Faculty Development. A. Upon hire, a new faculty member must attend a College Pre-Employment orientation. When possible, this will be offered prior to the first in-service day of the academic term. Participation in this orientation is not counted towards the faculty development requirement of ninety (90) hours (see below). If the new faculty member is unable to attend the scheduled orientation, the ▇▇▇▇ must work with the faculty member to provide the academic information covered at the orientation, and the faculty member must reschedule the Human Resources portion of the orientation.
B. Each year, faculty members on an annual contract must complete approximately thirty (30) hours of College faculty development which will include at least fifteen (15) hours relating to community college teaching and the history of the community college.
C. Supervising deans and the faculty member will determine, by joint effort, the annual goals of non-tenured faculty (see 9.1.B.3.e).

In addition, faculty members must complete a total of forty-five (45) hours of faculty professional development related to community college teaching and/or the community college in higher education. This requirement may be completed over the course of one year, two years, or three years.
C. Supervising deans and the faculty member will determine, by joint effort, the annual goals of non-tenured faculty (see 9.1.8.3.e).

If the new faculty member is unable to attend the scheduled orientation, the ▇▇▇▇ must work with the faculty member to provide the academic information covered at the orientation, and the faculty member must reschedule the human resources portion of the orientation.
B. Each year, faculty members on an annual contract must complete approximately fifty (50) contact hours of faculty development for two of the three years in the following manner:
1. Completion of Graduate Coursework (approximately 45 contact hours per year)
a) Taking and completing the following graduate courses (or modular units of them): “The Community College in American Higher Education” and “Seminar in College Teaching” or, if the course names are changed, courses with a similar concept. Each completed course credit hour is equivalent to 15 faculty development hours. Tuition and books will be paid for by the College.
