  • Relief Periods Employees will be allowed breaks within the shift without reduction in pay and without increasing the regular working hours as follows: Shift Length Breaks Up to, and including 5.5 hours 1 – 15 minute break More than 5.5 hours 2 – 15 minute breaks In addition to the above, any shift over five (5) hours will also have a half (½) hour unpaid lunch within the shift.

If a represented employee does not receive this thirty (30) minute meal period, he/she may be relieved at the end of eight (8) hours. If the employee’s work day is not shortened (ie: if he/she works eight and one-half (8½) hours), he/she shall be compensated under the CBA for one-half (½) hour at time-and-a half (ie: paid for 45 minutes). Two 10 (ten) minute breaks shall continue to be provided for each full-time shift.
