Longevity Allowance. 14.1 In addition to the monthly pay prescribed herein, any employee who has been continuously employed by the City in the Fire Department for a number of qualified pay periods, the total of which is not less than eight (8) years, shall receive from and after the beginning of the next pay period following completion of his/her eighth year of service, a monthly longevity award equal to four percent (4%) of his/her basic monthly pay, and any employee who has been continuously employed by the City in the Fire Department for a number of qualified pay periods, the total of which is not less than sixteen (16) years, shall receive from and after the beginning of the next pay period an additional monthly longevity award equal to four percent (4%) of his/her basic monthly pay. 14.2 Such longevity award shall be computed to the nearest dollar per month.
