Common use of Long Term Leave Without Pay Clause in Contracts

Long Term Leave Without Pay. The Board of Supervisors has discretion to authorize special leaves of absence without pay for any period up to six (6) consecutive calendar months. Such leaves include, but are not limited to educational, Union, and public official leave. Such leaves may be renewed for additional periods of up to six (6) consecutive calendar months upon the request of the Employee, if agreed to by the Board of Supervisors. Employees returning from authorized leaves of absence without pay of more than ten (10) workdays shall return to their former job, if physically qualified and the position is vacant, or to another equivalent position in accordance with his/her qualifications and ability.
