Common use of Legal Assistance Clause in Contracts

Legal Assistance. The Corporation will pay the legal costs associated with the defence of any employees who are sued or charged with any offence as a result of acts arising from the normal performance of their duties. Employees shall have the right to choose their own counsel to represent them in their defence but in no case shall the Corporation be required to pay in excess of $50,000 for any matter, including all related proceedings or appeals. In addition, the Corporation shall ensure there is no loss of regular wages and will pay travel and accommodation expenses (in accordance with Corporation Policy) for the duration of the legal proceedings.
