The Leave Process clause outlines the procedures and requirements for employees to request and take leave from work. Leave Process. The teacher will notify the Superintendent by April 1 of the teacher's intention to return at the beginning of the next school year following termination of the leave. All requests for extensions or renewals of leave must be applied for in writing on or before March 15 of each year in which the leave expires. Such leave of absence shall be requested in writing, and approved. The employee and Union Chairperson will be provided with written notification. The Company will provide a written response to the employee within seven (7) working days of receiving the leave request (if possible) with a copy to the Union Chairperson. The Company may, at its discretion, grant such leave of absence for a period of up to one (1) month. A driver with less than six (6) months of seniority shall not be granted a leave of absence, except in the case of an extreme emergency, at which time the Company and the Union Chairperson will meet to determine if seniority is maintained. The name of an employee who is on authorized leave of absence shall be retained on the seniority list and accumulate seniority. It is clearly understood that the Company will return the driver to their former run when returning from an approved leave of absence during the same school year except employees who are on an approved medical leave absence. Employees on an approved medical leave of absence will be returned to their former run if it still exists.
