HOLIDAYS DEFINED. 1. Paid holidays shall be: Date Known As January 1 New Year’s Day Third Monday in January Xx. Xxxxxx Xxxxxx Xxxx, Xx., Day February 12th Xxxxxxx's Birthday Third Monday in February Washington's Birthday Last Monday in May Memorial Day July 4th Independence Day First Monday in September Labor Day September 9th Admission Day Second Monday in October Columbus Day November 11th Veterans' Day Fourth Thursday in November Thanksgiving Day Day after Thanksgiving Day December 25th Christmas Day All other days appointed by the President of the United States or the Governor of the State of California as a nation-wide or state-wide public holiday, day of fast, day of mourning, or day of thanksgiving, provided that observance of the day as a paid holiday is approved in writing by three or more members of the Board of Supervisors. Two (2) floating holidays are to be scheduled by mutual agreement of the employee and his/her Agency/Department Head and taken within the calendar year. Employees hired on or after July 1 of each year will not be entitled to the floating holiday(s) for the calendar year in which they were hired.
