Common use of Float Days Clause in Contracts

Float Days. New employees hired after March 7, 1996 shall be limited to one (1) float day in the first calendar year providing they work nine hundred and seventy-five (975) hours, and in succeeding calendar years they shall be eligible for three (3) float days providing they have worked nine hundred and seventy-five (975) hours during the prior calendar year. The float days may be taken at the discretion of the employee during the calendar year between January 2 and December 15. The employee must give two (2) weeks notice to the Employer of intent to take a float day and the notice to the Employer and the Employer's confirmation shall both be in writing. Once a float day is confirmed, it cannot be changed or carried forward. If an employee calls in sick and she qualifies for a float holiday, she may elect, at her sole discretion, to assign the day off sick as one of her float days and receive pay for it accordingly.
