Engineering Software Clause Samples

The 'Engineering Software' clause defines the responsibilities and standards related to the development, customization, or integration of software within an engineering project. It typically outlines the technical requirements, quality benchmarks, and compliance obligations that the software must meet, such as compatibility with existing systems or adherence to industry standards. This clause ensures that all software deliverables are fit for their intended engineering purposes, reducing the risk of project delays or failures due to software issues.
Engineering Software. The following shall apply if it is made clear in the description of the Offering that the Customer has acquired "Engineering Software": If, during the intended use of the Engineering Software the Customer uses the Engineering Software or parts thereof to generate its own programs or data, the Customer shall have the right, without having to pay any license fee, to copy and to use these parts of the Engineering Software as a part of its own programs or data, or to supply such to third parties for use. If the Customer makes available to any third party the programs or data developed as described above, it shall pro- tect the Engineering Software contained therein in accord- ance with the provisions under section 5.

Engineering Software. The system must provide the ability to view a real time presentation of the control logics, process measurements, process outputs, calculated values, calculated states and control signals. The system must have an integral fault finding capability to highlight faulty instrumentation and other hardware errors. Signal simulation must be available online. Signal simulation functionality must be available on a channel level (per Input/Output). The system must provide for an automated record of the installed base, which includes the following functionality • Indicate, installed serial numbers or part numbers of modules installed per automation unit. • Provide an inventory of hardware/firmware versions, to enable possible upgrade requirements. The engineering, configuration of the system, servers, HMI must be possible online without the necessity to restart or shutdown any component of the C&I system. Online configuration of the systems should be possible, without presenting the station with a load loss or trip risk. The engineering software shall provide full application engineering of the control system including the operator system. This includes the following functionality: • Functional software and hardware engineering. • Field component configuration and connection. • Cabling and termination engineering • Operator interface display and report configuration. • Documentation management (Capture design base and record changes) In order to allow for the estimation of the minimum space and layout requirements of the operator workstation the expected hardware and configuration is defined as follows. The control system engineering system shall consist of one permanent engineering workstations located in the equipment room. The engineering workstation will consist of multiple screens for display and a keyboard and mouse to control the workstation. The engineering workstation computers will be located at the engineering workstation desk and will allow for the connection of removable media. No printers will be provided as part of the design. Communication between the various C&I system, Operator system and Engineering system occurs through the following two networks • Operating and Engineering Network • Automation Network The network shall be managed, monitored and alarmed via the network management system. The key performance requirements of the control system Operational Technology Networks must include specifications for: • Availability and maintainability of the ...
Engineering Software. Software shall be supplied for all devices that require interrogation or configuration. This shall include devices such as PLC's, PC's, VSD's, Smart Relays, Analysers, and Transmitters. The Software shall be supplied complete with manuals, cables, dongles, and other requirements such as passwords to enable the Owner to maintain and adjust the operation of the equipment.
