Common use of Deduction and Payment of Charitable Contributions Clause in Contracts

Deduction and Payment of Charitable Contributions. Any 18 employee who belongs to a religious body described herein shall, within 30 days of the 19 date of this Agreement or their employment, present proof to CSEA and the District 20 that he/she is a member of such religious body and shall execute a written authorization 21 for the payroll deduction in an amount equal to the service fee payable to a charitable 22 organization as defined in Section 8.4 above. In the alternative, such employee shall 23 provide proof to the District that such payments have been made on an annual basis as a 24 condition of continued exemption from the requirement of financial support to the 25 exclusive representative. If such employee who holds conscientious objections 26 pursuant to this section requests the employee organization to use the grievance 27 procedure or arbitration procedure on the employee’s behalf, the employee organization 28 shall charge the employee for the reasonable costs of using such procedure. 29
