Conditions and Eligibility for Election of Coverage. a. Subject to the terms and conditions provided under 35.3.b. through 35.3.f., below, an employee shall be entitled to elect the amount of life insurance coverage provided under 35.1., above, upon completion of 180 consecutive (consecutive means without a break of more than five consecutive days) calendar days of active service as a full-time (40-hour per week) employee following his/her initial date of employment with the City.

Half-time employees who are employed at least 20 hours per week for 365 consecutive calendar days shall become eligible for Life Insurance on a prorata basis.
