Common use of Civil Rights Act of 1964 Clause in Contracts

Civil Rights Act of 1964. A comprehensive law establishing federal guarantees of civil rights in the fields of voting, public accommodations, use of public facilities, public education, benefits under federally assisted programs, employment and other fields generally categorized as equal protection of the laws within the meaning of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended by the Equal Employment Opportunity Act of 1972, prohibits discrimination in public employment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. Title VI prohibits discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance on the basis of race, color, or national origin.
