Casual Nurse. is a nurse who works on an interim replacement or occasional basis and is paid on an hourly rate, but is not guaranteed a minimum number of hours of work on an ongoing basis. Casual work may include, but is not limited to, assignments to teach one or more series of prenatal classes, assignments involving short-term projects, assignments to replace staff on leave, and other assignments that are not of an ongoing, permanent nature.

A “Casual Nurse” is defined as a nurse Nurse who is normally scheduled to work an average of less than sixteen (16) hours in a pay period and/or a Nurse who works on an interim replacement as needed or occasional basis and is paid on an hourly rate, but is not guaranteed a minimum number of hours of work on an ongoing as available basis. Casual work may includeNurses shall not accumulate seniority and shall not be covered by or be subject to the terms of this Agreement. The Hospital shall provide a quarterly report of casual hours per unit to the Union President or their designee. Based on the quarterly report, but is not limited tocasual hours will be discussed, assignments to teach one or more series of prenatal classes, assignments involving short-term projects, assignments to replace staff on leave, and other assignments that are not of an ongoing, permanent naturein labor management.
