Cable Trays. Notwithstanding the requirements of Clause 20 of the Standard Specification, cable trays for electrical cables and for other services may be welded wire mesh heavy-duty cable trays used in conjunction with the Unistrut metal framing system. It should be noted that the wiremesh trays shall have a pitch of 50 x 50mm with longitudinal sidewall wires at 25mm centres. Wire diameter shall be 4mm with heavy sidewall longitudinal 6mm wires. The wiremesh trays shall be hot-dipped galvanised after fabrication and the correct xxxxxx clips, hold down saddles and screws must be used in conjunction with these trays. Prior to the ordering of the trays, as sample shall be approved by the Engineer and in all cases, the supports shall be close enough to ensure that under no circumstances does deformation of the cable tray under the weight of the cables or other services exceed 6mm in a longitudinal direction. It should be noted that on-site fabrication of bends reducers, etc. will only be allowed under exceptional circumstances where the standard accessories cannot be used. In all other cases, the standard accessories as supplied by the manufacturer shall be utilised.

Cable Trays. Metal cable trays shall be manufactured from perforated rolled steel or an approved steel wire mesh type. Only the following metal cable tray types may be used:
Cable Trays. In most circumstances, it will be permitted to run cable on a cable tray in which case the tray shall be manufactured of galvanized steel of not less than 1,6mm gauge. Cable trays shall be complete with bends, tees, etc. and be continuous. Cable trays shall be perforated galvanized steel with upstand 12mm high for up to 250mm wide trays and 50 high for wider trays. Cable ladders similar and equal to Xxxxxx Strut may also be used. Trays shall be securely supported from ceilings or brackets and by means of screwed galvanized rods 10mm diameter and cross supporting angle or unistrut section, at intervals of 1500mm.
Cable Trays i) Where a sheet steel cable tray is required, this shall consist of approved galvanized sheet-metal perforated medium duty tray supported with approved substantial brackets or hangers at suitable intervals to reduce sag to a maximum of 10mm. Where necessary to achieve this, the run of cable tray shall be reinforced along its length with angle iron or similar stiffening members, or shall be of the heavy duty type.
