Authorized Deductions. Effective November 7, 2022, the Authority will deduct Union initiation fees and dues, including assessments (but not including fines and penalties) from the pay of employees who submit and have not revoked a Voluntary Check-Off Authorization in the form set out below. These deductions will be made as permitted by State and Federal laws. The Financial Secretary of the ATU will have the responsibility for obtaining authorized signature forms from members of the bargaining unit and submitting the signed forms to the Authority’s Finance Department. The Authority’s Finance Department and the Union’s Financial Secretary shall promptly exchange copies of any revocation of the Voluntary Check-Off Authorization that they receive. You are hereby authorized and directed to deduct from my wages on a weekly basis all Union initiation fees and dues, including assessments, if any, as shall have been certified by the Financial Secretary of the Amalgamated Transit Union (AFL-CIO), Local 1039. Said deductions shall be made upon the terms and manner provided in the Agreement between CATA and Local 1039. These boards shall be for the exclusive use of the Union to post bulletins and notices of their meeting or any Union business that may come up, providing that nothing obnoxious or detrimental to the interest of the Authority shall be posted on such boards.

Authorized Deductions. Effective November 7A. The Hospital shall honor an employee’s check-off authorization, 2022unless the authorization form fails to comply with the law, or is revoked in compliance with the Authority terms of the authorization the employee signed. The employee may only revoke the authorization pursuant to the terms of the lawful authorization card signed by the employee.
B. Deductions shall start the pay period after the employer receives notification of the authorization. The employer shall transmit such payments to the Union through electronic funds transfer no later than thirty (30) days after the deduction from the employee’s earnings occurs.
C. Requests to authorize dues or other deduction shall be directed to the Union rather than the employer. Requests to revoke or change the authorization shall also be directed to the Union rather than the employer. The employer shall rely on the Union’s explanations in a certified list, submitted by a representative of the Union who has authority to bind the Union, regarding whether authorization/revocation/change in deductions has been requested by the employee.
D. The Hospital shall deduct from each employee's check an amount voluntarily authorized for COPE (Committee on Political Education) and submit the same, bi-weekly to the Union. Once the Union provides an authorized deduction from the COPE to AHS, AHS will deduct honor the COPE deduction by no later than the next month beginning after the receipt of authorization.
E. When remittances are made by AHS to the Union initiation fees under the terms of this Article, such remittances shall be accompanied by an itemized statement indicating the name of each employee and dues, including assessments (but not including fines and penalties) the itemized amounts deducted from the pay of employees who submit and each employee.
F. The Union shall have not revoked no obligation to provide the Hospital with a Voluntary Check-Off Authorization in copy of the form set out below. These deductions employee’s authorization unless a dispute arises about the existence or terms of the authorization.
G. The Union will hold harmless the Hospital against any claim or obligation which may be made as permitted by State and Federal laws.
