Anticipated Effects of Climate Change. Climate change is expected to alter ecosystems over the coming years. The southern portion of the province is expected to experience decreased precipitation and rising temperatures, as well as an increase in fire events and drought. Elevated winter temperatures and drought stress are also expected to escalate insect and disease populations, resulting in higher rates of timber mortality. Predictions are being made regarding significant losses to subalpine ecosystems. Consideration of this will need to be made when planning for silviculture operations in areas that are currently in the ESSF and selecting species that will tolerate the shift from cold, wet conditions to a drier, warmer environment.   • Climate Change 1. The Parties recognize that the climate change and its adverse effects are a common concern. In that sense, and under their international commitments, the Parties agree to promote joint measures to limit or reduce the adverse effects of the climate change. 2. For promoting sustainable development, each Party, within its own capacities, shall adopt policies and measures on issues such as: (a) improvement of energy efficiency; (b) research, promotion, development and use of new and renewable energy, technologies of carbon dioxide capture, and updated and innovative environmental technologies that do not affect food security or the conservation of biological diversity; and (c) measures for evaluating the vulnerability and adaptation to climate change.

  • Change in Agreement Any change deemed necessary in this Agreement may be made by mutual agreement at any time during the life of this Agreement.

  • Initial Effective Date The initial effective date of coverage under the Group Insurance Program is the thirty-fifth (35th) day following the employee's first day of employment, re- hire, or reinstatement with the State. The initial effective date of coverage for an employee whose eligibility has changed is the date of the change. An employee must be actively at work on the initial effective date of coverage, except that an employee who is on paid leave on the date State-paid life insurance benefits increase is also entitled to the increased life insurance coverage. In no event shall an employee's dependent's coverage become effective before the employee's coverage. If an employee is not actively at work due to employee or dependent health status or medical disability, medical and dental coverage will still take effect. (Life and disability coverage will be delayed until the employee returns to work.)

  • Execution of Agreement and Effective Date The Agreement shall become effective (i.e., final and binding) upon the date of signing of this Agreement and the CAP by the last signatory (Effective Date).

  • EFFECTIVE DATE AND NOTICE OF NONLIABILITY This Agreement shall not be effective or enforceable until it is approved and signed by the State Controller or its designee (hereinafter called the “Effective Date”), but shall be effective and enforceable thereafter in accordance with its provisions. The State shall not be liable to pay or reimburse Contractor for any performance hereunder or be bound by any provision hereof prior to the Effective Date.
