Background and Context 1.1 Objectives of this Agreement The purpose of this Agreement is to define, in the context of the resource inputs provided, the targets by which the performance of Forensic Science Ireland (FSI) will be measured in 2021. The ongoing supports that the Department of Justice will provide to FSI in this regard, and the mechanisms for monitoring and appraising performance, form part of the overall governance arrangements between the two parties and as such are set out in the separate but complementary Oversight Agreement 2020-22.
Context The Department of Education is Western Australia’s largest public sector employer with approximately 45,000 staff or one third of the Government workforce in around 800 worksites. We provide a system of public schools in which our aim is to ensure that every school is a good school, every teacher is effective and every student is successful. The Department's other key responsibilities include: • regulation of non-government schools in accordance with Part 4 of the School Education Act 1999 • administration of state funding to non-government schools • higher education policy and planning • legislative reviews • providing Secretariat services to the Teachers Registration Board of Western Australia, the Training Accreditation Council and the School Curriculum and Standards Authority. Singular/Plural All references in this Agreement to the singular shall include the plural where applicable, and all references to gender shall include both genders and the neuter.
Definitions and Abbreviations 12. The following terms and definitions shall apply to this Agreement:
Definitions and Acronyms For purposes of this Agreement, certain terms have been defined in the body of the Agreement to encompass meanings that may differ from, or be in addition to, the normal connotation of the defined word. Unless the context clearly indicates otherwise, any term defined or used in the singular shall include the plural. The words "shall" and "will" are used interchangeably throughout this Agreement and the use of either connotes a mandatory requirement. The use of one or the other shall not mean a different degree of right or obligation for either Party. A defined word intended to convey its special meaning is capitalized when used. Other terms that are capitalized, and not defined in this Agreement, shall have the meaning in the Act. For convenience of reference, Attachment 11 provides a list of acronyms used throughout this Agreement.
Birth Father and Adoptive Parent An employee who is the birth father, the adoptive father or the adoptive mother shall be entitled to up to thirty-seven (37) consecutive weeks of parental leave without pay. The employee shall take the leave within fifty-two (52) weeks of the child's birth or date the child comes within the care and custody of the employee.
Feminine/Masculine Pronouns Wherever the feminine pronoun is used in this Agreement, it includes the masculine pronoun and vice versa where the context so requires.
Plural or Feminine Terms May Apply Whenever the singular or masculine is used in this Agreement, it shall be considered as if the plural or feminine has been used where the context of the party or parties hereto so requires.
NOUNS AND PRONOUNS Whenever the context may require, any pronouns used herein shall include the corresponding masculine, feminine or neuter forms, and the singular form of nouns and pronouns shall include the plural and vice-versa.
Use of Masculine Pronoun Whenever a masculine pronoun is used in this Contract, it shall include the feminine gender unless the context clearly indicates otherwise.
