ICCAT Convention area definition

ICCAT Convention area means all waters of the Atlantic Ocean and adjacent seas;
ICCAT Convention area means the area determined by the International Convention for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas;

Examples of ICCAT Convention area in a sentence

  • Vessels shall be prohibited from commencing or continuing transhipping in the ICCAT Convention area without an ICCAT regional observer on board, except in cases of force majeure duly notified to the ICCAT Secretariat.

  • All waters of the Atlantic Ocean and adjacent seas included in the ICCAT Convention area specified in Article I of that Convention.

  • Member States shall without delay pass on to the Commission any information showing that there are strong reasons for suspecting that vessels more than 24 metres in overall length that are not on the ICCAT register are fishing for or transhipping tunas or tuna-like fish in the ICCAT Convention area.

  • Member States shall take the necessary measures to prohibit fishing, retention on board, transhipment and landing of tunas and tuna-like fish caught in the ICCAT Convention area by vessels more than 24 metres in overall length that are not on the ICCAT register.

  • By way of derogation from point (b) of paragraph 1, this Chapter shall not apply to transhipments at sea outside the ICCAT Convention area of fish caught in the ICCAT Convention area, where such transhipment is subject to a programme for transhipment established by another tuna RFMO.

  • The Commission shall send this information to the ICCAT Executive Secretariat before 1 July 2003 so that these vessels can be entered on the ICCAT register of vessels more than 24 metres in overall length authorised to fish in the ICCAT Convention area (hereinafter referred to as the ICCAT register).

  • Member States shall, where possible, carry out research on shark species caught in the ICCAT Convention area in order to improve the selectivity of fishing gear, to identify potential nursery areas and consider time and area closure and other measures, as appropriate.

  • Member States shall require carrier vessels included in the ICCAT record of vessels authorised to receive transhipments in the ICCAT Convention area and which tranship at sea, to carry an ICCAT regional observer during each transhipment operation in the ICCAT Convention area.
