Act of Sabotage definition

Act of Sabotage means a subversive act or series of such acts committed for political, religious, or ideological purposes including the intention to influence any government and/or to put the public in fear for such purpose.

  • For the avoidance of doubt, the fact that an Act of Sabotage and/or Terrorism is committed by an agent of the sovereign or government entity operating covertly and not in connection with any operation of armed forces or where the Act of Sabotage and/or Terrorism is funded by a sovereign or government entity, will not of itself give rise to the application of this war exclusion.

  • War means war, whether declared or not, or any warlike activities, including use of military force by any sovereign nation to achieve economic, geographic, nationalistic, political, racial, religious or other ends.

  • Act of God means a cataclysmic phenomenon of nature, including earthquake, flood or cyclone. Rain, snow, wind, high water or any other natural phenomenon, which might reasonably have been anticipated from historical records of the general locality of the City, shall be deemed not to be acts of God;

  • Epidemic means a sudden development and rapid spreading of a contagious disease in a region where it developed in a simply endemic state or within a previously unscathed community.

  • Imminent danger to the health and safety of the public means the existence of any condition or practice, or any violation of a permit or other requirement of this chapter in a surface coal mining and reclamation operation, which condition, practice, or violation could reasonably be expected to cause substantial physical harm to persons outside the permit area before such condition, practice, or violation can be abated. A reasonable expectation of death or serious injury before abatement exists if a rational person, subjected to the same conditions or practices giving rise to the peril, would not expose the person's self to the danger during the time necessary for abatement.

  • Riot means a tumultuous disturbance of the public peace by three or more persons assembled together and acting with a common intent.

  • Catastrophic injury or illness means a life-threatening injury or illness of an employee or a member of an employee's immediate family that totally incapacitates the employee from work, as verified by a licensed physician, and forces the employee to exhaust all leave time earned by that employee, resulting in the loss of compensation from the state for the employee. Conditions that are short-term in nature, including, but not limited to, common illnesses such as influenza and the measles, and common injuries, are not catastrophic. Chronic illnesses or injuries, such as cancer or major surgery, that result in intermittent absences from work and that are long-term in nature and require long recuperation periods may be considered catastrophic.

  • Waterborne disease outbreak means the significant occurrence of an acute infectious illness, epidemiologically associated with the ingestion of water from a public water system which is deficient in treatment, as determined by the Division.

  • Threat of violence means an unjustified expression of intention to inflict injury or damage that is made by a student and directed to another student.

  • Catastrophic illness or "Injury" means an illness or injury that is expected to incapacitate the employee for an extended period of time, or that incapacitates a member of the employee's family which incapacity requires the employee to take time off from work for an extended period of time to care for that family member, and taking extended time off work creates a financial hardship for the employee because he or she has exhausted all of his or her sick leave and other paid time off.

  • Act of Bankruptcy means if a party hereto or any general partner thereof shall (a) apply for or consent to the appointment of, or the taking of possession by, a receiver, custodian, trustee or liquidator of itself or of all or a substantial part of its property, (b) admit in writing its inability to pay its debts as they become due, (c) make a general assignment for the benefit of its creditors, (d) file a voluntary petition or commence a voluntary case or proceeding under the Federal Bankruptcy Code (as now or hereafter in effect), (e) be adjudicated a bankrupt or insolvent, (f) file a petition seeking to take advantage of any other law relating to bankruptcy, insolvency, reorganization, winding-up or composition or adjustment of debts, (g) fail to controvert in a timely and appropriate manner, or acquiesce in writing to, any petition filed against it in an involuntary case or proceeding under the Federal Bankruptcy Code (as now or hereafter in effect), or (h) take any corporate or partnership action for the purpose of effecting any of the foregoing; or if a proceeding or case shall be commenced, without the application or consent of a party hereto or any general partner thereof, in any court of competent jurisdiction seeking (1) the liquidation, reorganization, dissolution or winding-up, or the composition or readjustment of debts, of such party or general partner, (2) the appointment of a receiver, custodian, trustee or liquidator or such party or general partner or all or any substantial part of its assets, or (3) other similar relief under any law relating to bankruptcy, insolvency, reorganization, winding-up or composition or adjustment of debts, and such proceeding or case shall continue undismissed; or an order (including an order for relief entered in an involuntary case under the Federal Bankruptcy Code, as now or hereafter in effect) judgment or decree approving or ordering any of the foregoing shall be entered and continue unstayed and in effect, for a period of 60 consecutive days.

  • Act of Insolvency means any act as such as defined by the Presidency Towns Insolvency Act or in Provincial Insolvency act or any amending status.
