Violence. (a) The parties agree that violence shall be defined as any incident in which an employee is abused, threatened or assaulted while performing his or her work. The parties agree it includes the application of force, threats with or without weapons and severe verbal abuse. The parties agree that such incidents will not be condoned. Any employee who believes he/she has been subjected to such incident shall report this to a supervisor who will make every reasonable effort to rectify the situation. For purposes of sub- article (a) only, employees as referred to herein shall mean all employees of the Employer.
Violence. The hospital and the union agree that they have a shared goal of a workplace free of violence. To that end, the local parties will determine appropriate solutions to promote health and safety in workplaces, including, but not limited to: • Violence in the Workplace (including Verbal Abuse) • In particular, the local parties will consider appropriate measures to address violence in the workplace, which may include, among other remedies:
Violence. M.1 (a) The Hospital agrees that no form of verbal, physical, sexual, racial or other abuse of employee(s) will be condoned in the workplace. Any employee(s) who believes the situation to be abusive shall report this to the immediate Supervisor who will make every reasonable effort to rectify the abusive situation.

The Employer agrees to develop formalized policies and procedures in consultation with the Joint Health and Safety Committee to deal with workplace violence. The policy will address the prevention of violence and the management of violent situations and support to employees who have faced workplace violence. These policies and procedures shall be communicated to all employees. The Employer will report all incidents of violence as defined herein to the Joint Health and Safety Committee for review. The Employer agrees to provide training and informationon the preventionof violence to all employees who come into contact with potentially aggressive persons. This training will be done during a new employee’s orientation and updated as required. Subject to appropriate legislation, and with the employee’s consent, the Employer will inform the Union within three (3) days of any employee who has been subjected to violence while performing work. Such information shall be submitted in writing to the Union as soon as practicable. The Employer shall: inform employees of any situation relating to their work which may endanger their health and safety, as soon as it learns of the said situation; inform employees regardingthe risks relatingto their work and provide training and supervision so that employees havethe skills and knowledge necessary to safely perform the work assigned to them; ensure that the applicable measures and procedures prescribed in the Occupational Health and Safety Act are carried out in the workplace. Violence. A) acting aggressively by intimidating, threatening, or engaging in violent conduct through words or gestures, either individually or in a group setting (including while demonstrating, rallying or picketing);
Violence. The Employer agrees that no form of verbal, physical, sexual, racial or other abuse of Nurses will be condoned in the workplace. Any Nurse who believes the situation to be abusive shall report this to the immediate supervisor who will make every reasonable effort to rectify the abusive situation. The Employer and the Union agree that if incidents involving aggressive patient action occur, such action will be recorded and reviewed at the Joint Health & Safety Committee. The Employer will follow up to address the legitimate health and safety concerns of nurses presented in that forum. The Employer and the Union further agree that suitable subjects for discussion at the Hospital/Association Committee will include aggressive patients. The Employer shall notify the Joint Health and Safety Committee and the Union in writing immediately of any nurse who has suffered loss of hours of work as the result of assault while performing the nurse’s work. Updated statistics on numbers of staff assaulted while performing work will be brought to each meeting of the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee. The Employer will consider requests for reimbursement for damages incurred to nurse’s personal property such as eye glasses, contact lenses, other prosthesis, ripped uniforms, personal clothing, that occur as a result of patient action while performing the nurse’s work. Such requests will not be unreasonably denied. The nurse will endeavour to present the nurse’s claim to the employer within seven (7) days after the event unless it was impossible for her/him to do so during this period. The Hospital will provide training on violence prevention and control measures, procedures, practices and equipment to all Nurses during a new Nurse’s orientation and to all Nurses at least biennially. Immediate critical incident stress debriefing and post traumatic counseling shall be made available for Nurses who have suffered as a result of violence. Leave required to attend such debriefing or counseling sessions will be without loss of pay.

Violence. L-1 The parties agree that a safe workplace, free of violence and harassment, is a fundamental principle of a healthy workplace. Commitment to a healthy workplace requires a high degree of cooperation between the employer, employees, physicians and the union. Employees should feel empowered to report incidents of disruptive behaviour, including physician behaviour, without fear of retaliation. The parties are both committed to a harassment free environment and recognize issues in a timely and effective manner as set out below:
