Union Education. If the local union indicates to the Hospital that its members have approved a special assessment for union education in accordance with the CUPE constitution and local union by laws, the Hospital agrees to deduct this assessment. Such assessment will be paid on a quarterly basis into a trust fund established and administered by OCHU/CUPE for this purpose.

Union Education. Subject to operational requirements, a leave of absence without pay for the purposes of Union education will be granted for a maximum of twelve weeks per calendar year for the entire bargaining unit. The written notice requesting such leave must be received by the Commission four weeks before the start of the leave.
Union Education. The Employer shall contribute to a special fund of COPE Local 491 a sum of $4.00 per month per employee for the purpose of Union Education.
Union Education. 142 Release time with pay will be granted to those employees who are elected or selected by the Union to attend education classes conducted by the Union or official Union business. The number will not exceed ten (10) employees at any one time and the total number of hours will not exceed two hundred (200) hours in any one (1) calendar year. The Union agrees to give the Office of Employee Relations as much advance notice as possible concerning such requests for release time.
Union Education. The Company will allocate $15,000 each year of the contract for the purpose of training union officers. The National Union will oversee the spending of this fund. If at the end of any given year the entire $15,000 has not been used, the balance will be carried over into the next year. Any money not used by expiration of the contract will be converted into an employee fund. The plant committee will be in charge of this fund. ARTICLE TWENTY-SIX (26)
