Common use of UW School of Medicine/UW School of Dentistry Responsibilities Clause in Contracts

UW School of Medicine/UW School of Dentistry Responsibilities. The UWSOM/UWSOD, as the Sponsoring Institution, will oversee resident assignments and the quality of the learning and working environment at all participating sites, and will ensure that programs only assign residents to learning and working environments that facilitate patient safety and health care quality. This responsibility, which is delegated to the GME Office, shall also include oversight and administration of training programs, and monitoring of programs to ensure compliance with applicable accrediting body requirements and implementation of terms and conditions of appointment. In addition, the UWSOM/UWSOD will provide the necessary financial support for administrative, educational, and clinical resources, including personnel, to maintain graduate medical education training activities. This includes ensuring that program directors have sufficient financial support and protected time to effectively carry out their educational, administrative, and leadership responsibilities. Additionally, the UWSOM/UWSOD agrees to perform a series of administrative and educational functions for the benefit of the residents and the participating sites. These include issuing paychecks; maintaining resident records; administering the benefits outlined below and in the CBA; ensuring timely and appropriate communications to residents and programs from the parties listed in this agreement; and providing mechanisms for coordination of the program among the participating sites, the UWSOM/UWSOD, and the various clinical services. Lastly, the UWSOM/UWSOD will provide a learning and working environment in which residents have the opportunity to raise concerns and provide feedback without intimidation or retaliation and in an appropriate and confidential manner.
