Common use of Uniform Rules Clause in Contracts

Uniform Rules. a. Employees are required to start work with an approved clean and pressed uniform, or they shall not be paid or allowed to work. The approved uniform shall not be worn outside of the employee ’s working hours unless the employee is traveling to and from work. Employees shall not perform any non-City work, private or otherwise, in the City approved uniform. b. Uniforms that are ▇▇▇, frayed, shredded, faded, have buttons missing, damaged, unsightly or otherwise not properly maintained are unacceptable. All uniform shirts and uniform tee shirts except uniform shirts with a square cut at the bottom shall at all times be worn with the tails thereof inside the pants and with all buttons engaged up to the top two (2) buttons. c. While in applicable uniform, employees who violate any appropriate rule or regulation of the City are subject to the discipli ne procedures of Resolution No. 4148, Rules and Regulations for the Administration of Civil Service Procedures. d. When working in adverse conditions, an employee shall utilize the coveralls provided by the City for such circumstances. Should a uniform article become damaged as a result of an unexpected event or accident, due to no fault of the employee, the employee may submit documentation of the circumstances, along with the damaged article for replacement. e. A spare uniform must be kept in employee ’s locker at all times. Standby personnel must also wear uniforms when reporting to work, unless emergency circumstances dictate otherwise. f. Only an employee ’s proper name shall appear on a uniform. Nicknames are prohibited. However, a shortened version of an employee ’s proper name is permitted. For example, Bob is an acceptable shortened name for ▇▇▇▇▇▇. Any and all shortened names are subject to approval of employee ’s superintendent or Field Operations Manager. g. Approved orange, blue, or fluorescent green jackets are the only jackets that can be worn during working hours. h. Solid blue caps or City affiliated caps are acceptable uniform attire. Caps with language written on them, advertisements, or team logos are not permitted. Wide- brimmed hats are permissible for sun shade, but are subject to the approval of the employee ’s superintendent or field operations manager. i. Undergarments shall not be visible. Tee shirts worn under a uniform shirt must be solid white, solid orange or solid blue. j. An employee shall present a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance, including hair, mustache, and beards. k. Some departments or divisions may deem it necessary for its employees to wear steel-toed or hard-toed shoes.
