ULA. Subd. 1. The School Board may place on ULA by July 1 such teachers as may be necessary because of discontinuance of position, lack of pupils, financial limitations, or merger of classes caused by consolidation of school districts. ULA shall continue for a period of five (5) years, after which the right to reinstatement shall terminate, provided the teacher's right to reinstatement shall also terminate if the teacher fails to file with the School Board by March 1 of each year a written statement requesting reinstatement. ULA shall be effective no later than the close of the school year or at such earlier time agreed between the teacher and the School Board.
