Trading Shifts. An employee who wishes to trade a shift or part of a shift shall first obtain permission from the management supervisor or designate, and every trade must be recorded. The number of approved trades in a sign up is not limited, although all trades are subject to management's approval. Trades may be approved for extended periods of time provided mutual agreement of both the management supervisor and Union representative is obtained.

Trading Shifts. The practice of trading regularly scheduled shifts will be allowed with supervisory approval only.
Trading Shifts. 12.01 a) A transit employee wishing to trade one or more of their scheduled shifts shall be required to find another transit operator with whom to trade shift(s). Once it has been approved, it then becomes the employee’s assigned shift and their scheduled working day.

Trading Shifts. 75 Employees of the bargaining unit may trade shifts with another employee, subject to the approval of management, providing the change does not cause the payment of overtime. Management approval shall not be unreasonably withheld. Notice of the requested trade must be submitted by the affected employees at least 28 days in advance of the effective date of the shift period affected by the trade. The duration of the trade will be for the entire shift period. Disputes arising under this provision shall be reduced to a grievance beginning at Step 2 of the grievance procedure. If a Step 3 meeting is thereafter required, the Office of Employee Relations will respond to the grievance at this meeting. The Lodge will decide whether to arbitrate the dispute and the parties will select the arbitrator the same day. The dispute shall be submitted to immediate expedited binding arbitration with a bench decision being rendered by the arbitrator the same day of the arbitration hearing.
Trading Shifts. Upon written request, represented officers may be allowed to trade shifts within the same fourteen (14) day work cycle, with a minimum of twenty-four (24) hours notice and prior approval by the Chief of Police and/or designee, which shall not be unreasonably denied. A trade day will be considered an officer’s regularly scheduled work day for purposes of overtime. Disputes resulting from this section may only proceed through Step 4 of the grievance procedure and are not subject to arbitration.
