A Shift definition

A Shift is a portion of the day scheduled as a day’s work defined by ordinary hours for either day, afternoon or night shift as provided for in Clause 9 of this Agreement.
A Shift means the scheduled work hours of 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
A Shift means the working hours from 0700 to 1600 hours (including one (1) hour of meal time) everyday from Mondays to Sundays including a General Holiday; “A1 Shift”

Examples of A Shift in a sentence

  • A Shift is the scheduled period of work during the twenty-four (24) hour work day.

  • A Shift Premium of $0,30 per hour shall be paid for hours of work between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. A Premium of $0,35 per hour shall be paid for hours of work on Saturday and Sunday (Shift Premium will also apply in case of Saturday and Sunday shift between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.).

  • Example: A Shift that starts on Friday is straight time to completion of that shift.

  • A Shift Differential shall not be added to any unscheduled overtime hours worked, nor shall it apply to hours paid but not worked.

  • Each candidate must participate in a minimum of five (5) ride-alongs in at least three (3) separate districts, to include one (1) ride along during A Shift and three (3) ride-alongs during C shift.

  • A) Shift employees shall be entitled to two (2) fifteen (15) minute rest periods in each eight (8) hour shift and three (3) fifteen (15) minute rest periods in each twelve (12) hour shift.

  • A Shift Operator who has two (2) year's seniority and is at the two (2) year increment level would be placed at the two (2) year increment level of a Building Operator, and given an additional increment which would place him/her at the thirty (30) month increment level.

  • A Shift Engineer is herein defined as a stationary engineer who holds a 2nd class certificate and who assumes responsibility for the Central Plant and related activities on his/her shift.

  • A Shift Team Lead moved up to a Shift Coordinator would not be expected to discipline an hourly employee, but would be expected to take appropriate actions to ensure the safety of the personnel and equipment within the Refinery.

  • A Shift employee is hereby jointly defined as an employee who works at a job which is operated on a rotating twenty-four (24) hour per day, seven day a week basis, including holidays.


More Definitions of A Shift

A Shift means the working hours from 0700 to 1600 hours with one-hour meal break everyday from Mondays to Sundays including a General Holiday;
A Shift. (“sm na”) shall mean the part of weekly working time [section 83a(5)], excluding overtime, when an employee is engaged in work for his employer according to a predetermined pattern (schedule) of work shifts during a period of 24 consecutive hours.
A Shift means any shift worked outside the ordinary hours of work where the rostered hours of work finish after 6.00 pm. and at or before 6.30 am.

Related to A Shift

  • Day Shift means a shift which commences at or after 6.00 am and before 10.00 am. "Afternoon shift" means a shift which commences at or after 10.00 am and before 4.00 pm.

  • Afternoon shift means any shift finishing after 6.00 p.m. and at or before midnight.

  • Shift means a daily tour of duty exclusive of overtime hours.

  • Split shift means a work schedule, which is interrupted by non-paid non-working periods established by the employer, other than bona fide rest or meal periods.

  • Rostered Shift means a shift of which the employee concerned has had at least 48 hours notice.
