Common use of Teaching Assistant Clause in Contracts

Teaching Assistant. Associated with the position of Teaching Assistant is a nominal workload of 60 hours per half-credit course. This nominal workload is normally made up of scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time. The non-classroom work may include preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as may be required. Where the duties and the responsibilities for an assignment are greater or less than 60 nominal hours, the Employer shall post the number of hours associated with the position on the job posting and shall pay the appropriate hourly rate. In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant’s duties (duties required beyond 60 hours per half credit course), these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.
