Common use of Teaching a Sixth Class Clause in Contracts

Teaching a Sixth Class. A teacher may voluntarily teach a sixth class for additional compensation to be computed by dividing his/her base salary by five (5) for a full year's service. Such extra period assignments will be offered by seniority within the department. If such an assignment is for one semester, the compensation shall be based on the semester as a percentage of the total number of instructional days for the year. In the event that a sixth class assignment is created after the beginning of a semester, the compensation of the teacher who volunteers to accept such an assignment shall be prorated accordingly and include an additional three (3) days of daily-rate pay for preparation time.
