Common use of Teacher Certification Clause in Contracts

Teacher Certification. The Board recognizes as established criteria the policy of hiring new teachers who have no less than a bachelor degree from an accredited college or university and who possess or qualify for a standard, professional, or advanced professional, or previous certifications known as provisional, permanent, or continuing certificate. Teachers who do not qualify under the laws of the state of Michigan and/or the administrative rules governing “Certification of Michigan Teachers” may be employed by the district if the teacher has outstanding credentials or in cases of absolute necessity. Whenever possible, including during periods of layoff, vocationally certified teachers shall be used in vocational programs in order to meet state vocational program requirements.
