All cables shall be provided with a grounding conductor to provide a path for all equipment grounds back to the isolation grounding bus located in the switchboard. Any equipment with a case ground shall be ensured that the ground is electrically isolated from the hull of the vessel to prevent multiple point grounding. Case grounded equipment can provide alternate ground paths for current to flow. Isolation of galvanic currents is required. A ground fault detection system (with ammeter) shall be provided on the switchboard. The detection system should include LED lights to indicate a fault has occurred. The switchboard shall be located close to the pilot’s station. No AC current shall flow through the hull.
