Spare Drivers. Spare driver shifts will consist of those vacancies for which regular drivers (those in posted positions) are unavailable under the district assignment processes. These may be 2 or 3 hour shifts. In the case of predictable 3 hour shift vacancies, exceeding five (5) days, these will be offered to regular drivers. Assignments will include regular route vacancies that result from absences for reasons such as: ⮚ Illness ⮚ personal leave of absenceadditional work assignments Spare drivers will also be assigned to extra work of a 2-hour duration that conflicts with regular posted shifts. Employees with their name on the spare call-out list are agreeing to be available for the above-described work unless they state a specific restriction that is agreed upon by the employer.
Spare Drivers. 23.01 A spare driver is an employee who is assigned by the Company to cover vacant routes and regular routes that may-be down due to an emergency or where a regular driver is absent for whatever reason. 23.02 There are two types of Spare Drivers: 1. Regular Spare Drivers 2. Satellite Spare Drivers 23.03 Spare drivers are required to cover AM and PM routes and will have guaranteed work for AM and PM routes. Noon routes are “as required” only and will be offered to spare drivers in the order of seniority. 23.04 Spare drivers must be available at predetermined times for AM and PM routes. Typical hours of work are 6:45am to 9:15am and 2:45pm to 5:15pm. This may be subject to change based on route assignments, however if an assigned is shorter than the time required to work, he/she is expected to be available either before or after to assist dispatch as necessary. In certain cases, the spare driver may be required to cover routes that start before the predetermined time. 23.05 All spare drivers will be paid on the basis of a minimum guarantee of five (5) hours per day. If a spare driver is required to cover a lunch route, that driver will be paid a minimum of .75 hours at the lunch rate. Remuneration will be based from each of the AM and PM starting times until the end of work time (key off). 23.06 Spare drivers will be paid mileage in accordance with schedule “A”. 23.07 Spare drivers will receive a current copy of the assigned route by picking it up from the division or through fax or email, wherever possible. 23.08 All spare driver positions will be posted in accordance with Article 15. These positions will be awarded to the most senior applicant provided that he/she has the qualifications, skills and ability to perform the work. 23.09 When a spare driver is required to cover both an AM and PM of the same, the Spare will be able to keep the bus except in circumstances where the bus is required for operation support (ex. Charters) including maintenance.
Spare Drivers are drivers who do not have a regular AM/PM work assignment. Spare drivers shall not have seniority on the regular seniority list but shall have seniority standing amongst spare drivers as Class (i) or Class (ii).
Spare Drivers. There shall be two (2) classes of spare drivers: 1) Class (i) Spare driver not available for full-time work assignment of a permanent or temporary nature 2) Class (ii) Spare driver available for full-time work assignment of a temporary or permanent nature. 3) Following ratification of the collective agreement spare drivers will be required to declare in writing, on a designated form as determined by the company, either spare driver class (i) or class (ii) in which they wish to be placed. Subsequent to the declaration the employees will be placed on the applicable class (i) or class (ii) list in order of seniority. A new spare driver hired after date of ratification will be required to declare their status as a class (i) or class (ii). Employees wishing to change their status at a later date will be required to submit a request in writing and will be placed on the applicable seniority list as per the dated request for transfer between the spare classes. 4) Class (ii) spare driver available for full-time work assignment will have the right to be assigned a temporary work assignment and/or bid on and be selected as the successful applicant for permanent job posting ahead of class (i) spare drivers. 5) A spare driver upon becoming the successful applicant for job (regular am/pm work assignment) then that employee will commence accruing seniority on the regular driver seniority list on the date on which the work assignment starts for which the employee receives pay.
Spare Drivers. A. Spare Drivers will be assigned at the discretion of the Director of Bus Operations. There shall be no required reassignment if a subsequent route becomes available. The regular and ordinary compensation for the two (2) Spare Drivers shall be six and one quarter B. The first two (2) replacements for Mid-Day Route Assignments for absent drivers will be the least senior spare driver first, and then the most senior spare driver.

Any people completing their training course that already have a class license shall draw lots prior to people who do not have a class two license. Lots shall be numbered pieces of paper put into a container. The number of pieces of paper shall equal the number of people completing the training class. The person who draws lot shall go on the spare drivers list first, then the person who draws lot etc. For a person who does not have a class license, they shall be required to pass their class driving exam to be entitled to exercise their lot seniority placement on the spare drivers seniority list. the person fails the class exam, they shall be placed on the bottom of the spare drivers seniority list on the date they pass the exam. Seniority lists shall be supplied by the Company by January 15th and September 15th each year to the shop ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ and the union office, The lists shall contain the names of all members of the bargaining in order of seniority, showing name, classification, and seniority date. The Company will keep seniority lists current and make them available to the shop ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ upon reasonable request. Protests in regard to the seniority status of any employee must be submitted in writing to the shop ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ and the Company within thirty (30) days from the date each new seniority list is posted. If proof of errors are presented, such errors shall be corrected and such agreed upon seniority shall thereafter be final. In the event that agreement cannot be reached between the Company and the Union, the grievance procedure under Article shall apply. Accumulation of Seniority Employees shall continue to accumulate seniority when they are absent from work due to a Workers Compensation claim. Employees shall continue to accumulate seniority for a maximum of two (2) year's when they are absent from work due to sickness or non- compensable injury. Employees shall continue to accumulate seniority for a of (Iy)ear when they are absent from work due to layoff or an approved leave of absence. A permanent employee shall lose seniority in the event:
