Common use of Serious Illness in Family Clause in Contracts

Serious Illness in Family. A Regular employee may be allowed time off with pay from scheduled basic hours during any necessary period of absence not exceeding one (1) week occasioned by the serious illness of a close relative. Satisfactory proof of the necessity of the employee’s absence must be provided when requested. A Regular employee shall be allowed necessary time off with pay from scheduled basic hours to act as a donor for a blood transfusion for a close relative. The term “close relative” includes mother, father, spouse (including common-law), sister, brother, son, daughter and any relative of the employee who resides permanently in the employee’s household or with whom the employee permanently resides.
