Sergeant Differential Clause Samples
The Sergeant Differential clause establishes a pay rate difference for employees holding the rank of sergeant compared to those of lower ranks. Typically, this clause specifies the percentage or dollar amount by which a sergeant’s compensation exceeds that of a patrol officer or equivalent position, ensuring that the additional responsibilities and leadership duties of sergeants are recognized financially. Its core function is to formalize and standardize the pay hierarchy within an organization, thereby promoting fairness and incentivizing advancement.
Sergeant Differential. At each equivalent step, Police Sergeants shall be paid a base salary which is at least fifteen percent (15%) higher than the base salary of Police Officers. Future salary increases will continue this fifteen percent (15%) minimum differential.
Sergeant Differential. Effective January 1, 2007, an employee holding the rank of sergeant or provisional sergeant shall receive a differential that is eight percent (8%) above the wage rate to which they would ordinarily be entitled as a police officer. The differential plus the base wage shall be the basis of overtime pay calculation.
Sergeant Differential. A Sergeant's base pay will be four percent (4.0%) above the highest paid deputy hourly wage. There shall be three (3) steps in the Sergeant pay scale: Step 2, being an additional four percent (4.0%) after eighteen (18) months as a Sergeant, and Step 3 an additional four (4.0%) after thirty-six (36) months as a Sergeant. This new step system will be implemented retroactively for all eligible employees on the payroll as of November 12, 2008, and current Sergeants will be placed into a new Sergeant step based upon years of service as a Sergeant at the time of implementation of this new step system.
Sergeant Differential. In addition to the salaries provided in Sections 3.1 and 3.2, members holding the rank of Sergeant shall receive an additional differential of $1,500.00.
Sergeant Differential. Employees in the classification of Sergeant shall receive a base wage that is equal to an additional ten percent (10%) above the top full-time police officer base wage.
Sergeant Differential. The Sergeant's pay shall be an additional $1.44 ($3,000 per year). This differential will be included in the computation of overtime.
