Section 9.1.4. 22 In the event employees are absent for reasons which are covered by Industrial Insurance, the 23 District shall pay the employee an amount equal to the difference between the amount paid the 24 employee by the Department of Labor and Industries and the amount the employee would have 25 normally earned. A deduction shall be made from the employee’s accumulated sick leave in 26 accordance with the amount paid to the employee by the District.
Section 9.1.4. 5 At the time of separation from school district employment due to retirement pursuant to PERS 6 or death, an eligible employee or the employee's estate shall receive remuneration at a rate 7 equal to one (1) day’s current monetary compensation for each four (4) full days accrued leave 8 for illness or injury pursuant to RCW 28A.400.210.
Section 9.1.4. 2 All employees fulfilling their summer assignments, consistent with Summer Transportation 3 Employment, Section 21.5.1., who work their last scheduled day before and first scheduled day 4 after July 4, shall be compensated for the holiday.
Section 9.1.4. 33 Employees may exercise an option to receive remuneration for unused sick leave that was 34 accumulated in the previous year at a rate equal to one (1) day’s monetary compensation of the 35 employee for each four (4) days of accrued leave for illness or injury. A maximum of one 36 hundred and eighty (180) sick leave days shall be the limit for computation purposes under this 37 cash out section. The aforementioned maximum may be less than the actual accrued sick leave 38 of an employee but shall prevail in this specific application.
Section 9.1.4. 5 An employee shall forfeit rights to re-employment as provided in Section 9.10 if the employee does 6 not comply with the requirements of Section 9.11, or if the employee does not respond to the offer of 7 re-employment within fifteen (15) days.
Section 9.1.4. 33 It is advised that all substitutes and employees keep a personal copy of their time card.
Section 9.1.4. 3 An employee on layoff status who rejects an offer of reemployment forfeits seniority and all other 4 accrued benefits; provided, that such employee is offered a position substantially equal to that held prior 5 to layoff.
Section 9.1.4. 26 A deduction of one (1) day of sick leave credit shall be made for each day absence is due to personal 27 illness.

Section 9.1.4. 29 Adoption leave shall be granted upon the same terms to employees who become adoptive 30 parents at the time of birth or initial placement for children. 32 Requests for adoption leave shall be submitted no later than twenty (20) workdays prior to the 33 beginning date of the leave. The request shall include the approximate beginning and ending 34 dates for the leave requested. 36 An employee may use up to five (5) days first using personal leave and then deducting 37 remaining time from sick leave, prior to the adoption for court proceedings, home study and 38 evaluation, required home visits and other procedures leading to completion to the adoption 39 process. 40 41 Adoption leave will be charged in half (½) day or full day increments. 42
