Responsibilities of Principal Investigators. The PIs of the XYZ Scientific Drilling Project have full responsibility for the direction of the project or activity supported under ICDP and NSF funds and for adherence to the conditions stipulated by the respective funding agency. Although the PIs are encouraged to seek the advice and the opinion of the OSG on special problems that may arise, such advice does not diminish the PIs responsibility for making sound scientific and administrative judgments and does not imply that the responsibility for operating decisions has shifted to the OSG. The PI’s are responsible for approval of daily reports, prompt approval of invoices from XYZ (within 3 days), accuracy of invoices from the PI Institution(s), and timely participation in the change order decision process (with ICDP, Contractor field manager and Contractor office). The PIs will use reasonable efforts to fulfill the following responsibilities:
