Common use of Promotion to District Chief Clause in Contracts

Promotion to District Chief. Persons having held the rank of Captain for a period of two (2) continuous years shall be eligible for promotion to the rank of District Chief. In the event all those Captains fail the written portion of the promotion examination which follows, persons holding the rank of Lieutenant for a minimum of five (5) continuous years and all Captains regardless of time-in-rank may be eligible for examination for promotion to District Chief. The promotional examination for the rank of District Chief shall consist of two (2) parts as follows:
