Preparation/Release Time. 1. Kindergarten and transitional kindergarten teachers, before or after teaching their own classes, shall provide and shall receive, in consultation with the affected faculty, up to an additional one hundred eighty (180) minutes of classroom assistance per 5 instructional days. The TK/K teacher shall, in consultation with each other, determine among themselves how to maximize classroom assistance for each other. In addition, TK/K teachers shall receive sixty (60) minutes per five (5) instructional days for preparation time. The remainder of the work day shall include other duties related to the educational programs and supervisory responsibilities assigned by the immediate supervisor. 2. Elementary classroom teachers shall, during that portion of the work day that classes are not in session, be provided with an average of one hundred and twenty (120) minutes per five (5) instructional days for use by the teacher for any educational purpose. 3. Each primary (grades 1-3) classroom teacher shall be released during the instructional day one hundred and twenty (120) minutes per 5 instructional days for use by the teacher for any educational purpose.. 4. Teachers in grades 4, 5 and 6 or any combination of 4/5 or 5/6 (at elementary school sites) shall be released during the instructional day one hundred and fifty (150) minutes per five instructional days for use by the teacher for any educational purpose. 5. Those elementary teachers with combination grades shall be released during the instructional day at the rate established above of the higher grade level of the combination. 6. Those elementary teachers who teach combination classes shall be excluded from supervisory duties within the workday provided that the majority of the faculty votes in favor of the exclusion. The principal shall initiate a secret ballot voting process during the first week of school. The votes will be counted in the presence of a PVFT representative. 7. Preparation/Release Time for Middle and High School a. Classroom teachers in senior/middle/junior high school shall be provided with one daily preparation period equal in length to one instructional period. Part time employees who are employed for three (3) periods or less, receive no preparation period. Part time employees who teach four (4) periods or more, receive a preparation period. Preparation/Release Time. (a) The Board shall provide every teacher who has instructional duties with an average of 135 minutes of preparation/release time per five (5) day cycle. In addition, the Board shall allocate one-half (½) professional activity day (see 17.02), during the school year, to teachers for purposes of preparation time. Teachers must be present in the school or in assigned Board premises on that day. (b) Where a classroom teacher does not have full-time instructional duties, such preparation/release time shall be pro-rated accordingly. (c) Preparation/release time is defined as time used for planning and preparation of teacher activities, student evaluation, consultation with supervisors, colleagues, coordinators or resource teachers, or other such duties as may be permitted during such time by the Board. (d) It is understood that the Board will make every effort to ensure that elementary teacher preparation time is scheduled in blocks of at least twenty (20) minutes within the instructional day. Individual situations which vary from this may be referred to the Joint Employment Relations Committee for resolution, where possible.
Preparation/Release Time. (a) Effective September 1, 2003 (i) The Board shall provide every teacher who has instructional duties with a minimum of 150 minutes of preparation/release time per five (5) day cycle. (ii) In addition, the Board shall allocate one-half (½) professional activity day (see 17.02), in February and one (1) day in June, to teachers for purposes of preparation time. Teachers must be present in the school or in assigned Board premises on that day; and (iii) Each elementary school in the Board will provide supply teacher coverage for prep time equal to a .5 release day per school year for each FTE classroom teacher (excludes Teacher-Librarians, S.E.R.T.S., V.P. teaching time, E.L.R.T.S., E.S.L., and any other teacher not assigned classes). The Principal of the school will decide the allocation of the available prep time. In no instance shall a supply teacher be brought in for less than one-half (½) day at a time. A teacher allocated prep time pursuant to this provision must be present in the school during that time. Use of prep time is contingent on availability of occasional teachers.

  • Union Release Time Subject to the operational needs of the Department, the appointing authority may grant to elected officers or appointed representatives of the Union time off for union activities not to exceed ten days (80 hours per fiscal year) in the aggregate as provided below. Effective the start of the pay period following Council approval of this MOU, the maximum number of hours in a fiscal year shall be 360 in the aggregate. Management shall not grant release time to more than one employee at a time in a work unit (i.e. region) in the Department of Recreation and Parks, and no more than one employee per department for the Zoo and El Pueblo under this Article. A. The Union shall submit a written request for release of an employee to that employee’s Department Management, which shall include the balance of the aggregate hours of release time remaining in the fiscal year for the Unit as a whole, at least 21 calendar days prior to the effective release date, specifying the starting and ending dates of release. The Union shall provide a copy of said request to the City Administrative Officer. The employee shall fill out any necessary paperwork required by Management for his/her release. B. Employees shall be paid their current salary by the City while they are performing these duties for the Union. C. Employees shall retain all of their existing benefits, including, but not limited to medical, dental, deferred compensation plan, retirement benefits and seniority accrual in their civil service class. D. The Union shall reimburse the City for all salary and benefits costs incurred as a result of release time, including but not limited to, vacation, sick leave, compensated time off, retirement, short-term disability, life insurance, medical, dental and workers’ compensation. The benefits cost shall be based on the rates established by the City Administrative Officer as contained in the City Budget in effect during the period of release time, and the cost of other benefits approved by the Joint Labor-Management Benefits Committee that become effective during this period. E. Payment of any overtime worked while on release time shall be the responsibility of the Union. F. The Union shall make quarterly payments to the Controller of all reimbursable costs identified in Section D. above. G. Employees on release time shall submit weekly timesheets signed by the employee and the Union (Executive Director or his/her designee) to their respective Departmental Personnel Director specifying the number of hours worked and use of any sick leave, vacation time or compensated time off. H. Injuries incurred while on Union release time shall not qualify for IOD or workers’ compensation benefits. I. The employee must have passed probation in his/her current class to be eligible for release time. J. The Union shall indemnify, defend and hold the City and its officers and employees harmless against any and all claims, suits, demands or other forms of liability that might arise out of or result from any action taken by an employee in the service of the Union. K. The City Administrative Officer shall maintain a list of employees who have been approved for release time and the approved duration.

  • Release Time a. Each mentor teacher shall be granted release time for direct mentoring activities. Release time shall be separate from any other release time covered under this agreement and shall be coordinated by the building administrator.

  • Paid Release Time Employees will be provided a reasonable amount of time during their normal working hours to meet with the union ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ and/or staff representative to process a grievance. In addition, employees will be released during their normal working hours to attend meetings or hearings scheduled by management for the following: a. Informal grievance resolution meetings, grievance meetings, alternative dispute resolution meetings, mediation sessions and arbitration hearings, in accordance with Article 6, Grievance Procedure, and held during the employee’s work time; b. Management scheduled investigatory interviews and/or pre-disciplinary meetings, in accordance with Article 36, Corrective Action, and; c. Negotiations in accordance with Article 40, Mandatory Subjects. d. Joint Labor Management meetings in accordance with Article 43.
