Common use of Pre-Retirement Counseling Leave Clause in Contracts

Pre-Retirement Counseling Leave. Leave with pay for an employee to investigate and assemble a retirement program may be granted by an appointing authority for a period up to three and one-half (3-1/2) days of leave within three (3) years of the chosen retirement date. Employees shall request the use of leave provided in this Section at least ten (10) days prior to the intended day of use. Authorization of the use of pre-retirement leave shall not be unreasonably denied unless the Agency determines that the use of such leave handicaps the efficiency of the employee's work unit. When the date requested for pre-retirement leave cannot be granted for the above reason, the Agency shall offer a choice from three (3) other sets of dates.
