Common use of Permanent Vacancy Clause in Contracts

Permanent Vacancy. For the purposes of this Article, a permanent vacancy is created when the City Manager, upon notification by the Chief of Police, determines to increase the work force and to fill a new position or when any of the following personnel transactions take place in the bargaining unit and the City Manager, upon request of the Chief of Police, determines to replace the previous incumbent: resignations, terminations, promotions or demotions.
