Common use of Laid Clause in Contracts

Laid. off regular employees shall retain their seniority and perquisites accumulated up to the time of lay-off, for a period of one (1) year and shall be rehired, if the employee possesses the capability & qualifications to perform the duties of the vacant job following a normal orientation period, on the basis of last off - first on. Laid-off employees failing to report for work of an ongoing nature within seven (7) days of the date of receipt of notification by registered mail shall be considered to have abandoned their right to re-employment. Employees requiring to give two (2) weeks’ notice to another Employer shall be deemed to be in compliance with the seven (7) day provision. In the exercise of rights under this section, employees shall be permitted to exercise their rights in accordance with Article 15.05
