While the primary gears used by Participating Vessels will be otter trawls and sink gillnets, there is some history of use of other gear including demersal long lines and handlines. The PCS is authorized to use any gear allowed by regulations including automated hook, jigs, handlines, Scottish seines, beam trawls, or pots.
