While the primary gears used by Participating Vessels will be 4 otter trawls, sink gillnets, and automatic electric jigging machines there is some history of use of 5 other gear including traps, demersal long lines and handlines. The MCCS is authorized to use 6 any gear allowed by regulations including automated hook, jigs, handlines, Scottish seines, beam 7 trawls, or pots.
