Common use of Effect of Leave of Absence Clause in Contracts

Effect of Leave of Absence. In the event of an employee’s approved leave of absence without pay from the Hospital exceeding sixty (60) continuous calendar days, the employee will not accumulate seniority for any purposes under the Collective Agreement for the duration of such absence. Notwithstanding the above, where an employee is on WSIB, or has qualified for WSIB and is awaiting payment, seniority for all purposes shall continue for a maximum of twenty-four (24) months. Seniority will be calculated based on the average hours worked in the twenty-six (26) week period prior to the last day worked.
