Common use of Education Assistance for Formal Course Clause in Contracts

Education Assistance for Formal Course. Work at an Accredited Educational Institution Full time (regular) employees may continue their education in a job related field and the City of Napoleon may reimburse, upon successful completion of course(s), all or part of the tuition or instruction costs. All courses and costs must be pre-approved, in writing, at the sole discretion of the Appointing Authority. The City of Xxxxxxxx will reimburse an employee, subject to budgetary considerations, for six (6) semester hours or nine (9) quarter hours (based on the corresponding charges of the nearest "state" college or university) not to exceed one thousand five hundred ($1500) dollars in total, per calendar year, as described below for the portion of the registration and tuition that was pre-approved. In order to qualify for this education assistance benefit an employee must: Advise their Department Head, prior to enrolling for the class, that such employee intends to take a particular course. The Department Head will advise the employee whether the course is of a nature that the Appointing Authority will approve for partial or total reimbursement of tuition and instructional fees (not to include other general fees, travel, or books). The course must be job oriented and offered by an accredited educational institution. Once the course is completed, submit a certified transcript of grades, with receipts for expenses. The amount of course reimbursement is based on the final grade received for the course, as follows: A = 100% B = 80% C = 60% <C = 0% An employee must have at least two (2) full years of service with the City of Napoleon.
