Duration of Leave and Compensation. Leave of any such employee shall be authorized for a total not to exceed ten (10) work days for a single accident provided, however, the Board may under such circumstances as would warrant, grant additional injury in the line of duty leave for such term and under such conditions as the Board shall deem proper. Extension of this leave shall not be unreasonably withheld. Injury in the line of duty leave shall not be charged to accumulated sick leave. Claims -- Any such classified employee who has claim for compensation under this section shall file the claim in the manner prescribed in Section 440.185, Florida Statutes by the end of the month during which such absence has occurred.
