DELAYS AND TIME EXTENSIONS. a. The Contractor may be granted a time extension if the Contractor encounters an unavoidable delay of the work due to causes completely beyond the Contractor’s control and which the Contractor could not have avoided by the exercise of reasonable care, prudence, foresight and diligence. Causes for which a claim for extension of time may be made include: acts of the public enemy, acts of another contractor in the performance of another contract with the District, priority of a governmental agency for materials or equipment, fire, flood, violent wind storm, epidemic, quarantine restriction, strike, freight embargo, or weather of an unusually severe nature. The Contractor will not be granted time extensions for weather conditions which are normal for the location of the Project, according to the National Weather Service Records.
