Critical Elements. a. Critical elements are those work assignments or responsibilities of such importance that unacceptable performance on an element would result in a determination that the employee’s overall performance was unacceptable. b. To the maximum extent feasible, the critical elements will be consistent for like positions. Variations from these critical elements will be based on significant differences in the job. c. Consistent with Management’s right to assign work, the critical elements should normally be consistent with the duties and responsibilities contained in an employee’s PD.
