Caulking. Butyl rubber caulking compound for exterior use shall be 1-part polymerized rubber compound, gun consistency, conforming to federal specification TT-C 598 grade one. Acrylic caulking compound for interior use shall be a 1-part, 100% liquid polymer, acrylic base compound, and non-sagging, non-staining, gun consistency. Polysulfide base compound for exterior use shall be a 1-component sealing compound complying with the requirements of USIA A116.1, Class B (non-sagging) and federal specification TT-S227B, Types I and II. Containers shall bear the Thiokol Chemical Corp. “Tested and Approved” seal or shall be accompanied by a manufacturer’s certificate stating that the compound complies with this standard.
